Žižkov Pub Crawl Prague – Local Bars in Europe’s Densest Pub District
Žižkov has more pubs per square kilometre than almost anywhere in Europe. The neighbourhood sits east of the city centre and has been Prague’s unofficial drinking district since the nineteenth century. It’s where locals go rather than tourists, which is partly what makes it worth visiting.
What to expect in Žižkov
The bars in Žižkov are smaller and cheaper than those in the Old Town. Most have no tourist markup, no English menus, and no particular effort to attract visitors. That’s the appeal. You order by pointing, the beer costs half what it does a kilometre away, and the atmosphere is completely different from the tourist trail.
The main pub streets run along Seifertova and Korunní, with dozens of side-street vinárnas hidden between apartment blocks. The Žižkov Television Tower is the easiest landmark for orientation.
Getting the most out of it
The best approach is to walk in without a plan and stop when something looks right. Most places have Czech beer on tap for 35-50 CZK a pint. Avoid anywhere with an English sign out front or a laminated tourist menu.
For a more structured option, our guided brewery tour visits three Prague microbreweries including spots near the Žižkov area. It runs 4.5 hours with nine beer tastings, Czech food, and unlimited beer at the final stop. €74 per person, groups of 2 to 30.
