Prague is a year-round destination. Beer is excellent in every season. But the experience varies depending on when you visit. Here’s a month-by-month breakdown.

Quick Summary

  • Best overall: May, June, September, October
  • Best for budget: January, February, November
  • Best for atmosphere: December (Christmas markets)
  • Busiest and most expensive: July–August

Month-by-Month Guide

January – February

Cold (0–5°C), but Prague is beautiful in winter. Significantly fewer tourists. Beer tour groups are smaller and more personal. Accommodation is 30–40% cheaper than summer. The microbreweries are warm and welcoming when it’s freezing outside.

March – April

Spring arrives gradually. Crowds start to build from mid-April. Still good value. Beer gardens begin opening in April. A good window before the summer rush.

May – June

The best months to visit. Warm enough for outdoor terraces, not yet peak-season crowded. Long evenings, good weather, and the city feels alive. Our most popular period for beer tours.

July – August

Peak tourist season. Prices are highest, accommodation is scarce, and popular spots in the Old Town are very crowded. Beer tour availability can be limited: book well in advance. The experience is still good, just busier.

September – October

Arguably the best time of year. Summer crowds have thinned, the weather is still excellent (15–22°C), and prices come back down. Beer festivals in September. Highly recommended.

November

Quiet, cool, and cheap. Good for those who prefer a relaxed city. Some beer gardens close but the pubs and microbreweries are in full swing.

December

Christmas markets make Prague magical in December. Crowded in the centre but worth it. Mulled wine everywhere, but the microbreweries serve their best seasonal dark lagers. A great combination.

When to Book Your Beer Tour

In high season (May–September), book at least 3–5 days in advance for regular tours. For groups, book 1–2 weeks ahead. In low season, same-day booking is usually possible.
